Overview 

This article explains the reasons why your roast may be flatlining and how to prevent it from happening in the future.

Instructions

We have noticed some roast curves where the temperature suddenly drops and then immediately jumps back to normal. This creates unusual peaks and valleys in your Rate of Rise (as shown in the screenshot below):

 

This can occur for several reasons. We have compiled a list of the most likely causes and the key areas you should inspect to resolve the issue:

  • Your computer has gone to sleep during a roast. If your computer sleeps during a roast, set the display timeout to be longer than your average roast time.
  • Your data bridge is too hot.
  • Your USB is removed from the roaster.
  • Your computer is overheating.
